ERPi Participates in Houston Emergency Response

Early September, members of our VA Benefits Data Quality and Fraud Prevention (BDQ-FP) team received an urgent request from VA to assist with performing outreach to Veterans in areas affected by Hurricane Harvey. There are several thousand Veterans residing in the Houston area where US postal service has been stopped due to the storm. This caused certain delays in Veterans and beneficiaries receiving their benefit checks, many of who cannot afford to wait, as well as increased probability of fraudulent activity. Members of the VA BDQ-FP team joined others within VBA in calling Veterans and beneficiaries to assist by offering to enroll them in the direct deposit program or temporarily change their mailing address to route the check to a family member or friend residing in an unaffected area. Team members from ERPi, Booz Allen Hamilton (BAH) and Quality Innovation Inc. (Qi2) made contact with nearly 700 Veterans and beneficiaries on August 31 prior to the September 1 benefit distribution date thereby minimizing their delays in receiving their benefits. We were very proud and humbled to be a part of this effort.
